Clare Early Intervention Services (C.E.I.S.)
What we do.
The Clare Early Intervention Service (C.E.I.S.) provides a specialist intervention service to young children aged 0-5 years and their families where the child has been identified as being at risk of a developmental delay. The team consists of a variety of personnel – Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Early Intervention Educators, Physiotherapists, Preschool Resource personnel and administrative staff. This is a project that is managed by a number of agencies – HES, Enable Ireland and Brother’s of Charity.

This service aims to provide a specialist early intervention service to young children and their families.
Who is Eligible?
The service is open to families who have a child aged 0 -5 years who is at risk of a developmental delay.

How does it work?
When a child is referred to C.E.I.S. they will be seen for assessment. The aim of this assessment is to determine the child’s needs for intervention and in partnership with the parents an intervention plan will be developed.
Intervention from personnel in C.E.I.S. can be provided in a number of ways:
- Direct individual therapy with the child
- Group based interventions e.g. social and communication group, early stimulation group etc
- Consultation with other personnel working with the child e.g. preschool, school
- Parent Education and information sessions
- Parent support group
Children may be seen in a variety of settings:
- Clinic
- Child’s home
- Preschool
- School
